House of Fotography presents a great mix of business models a mixture of passion by Teddy and business mind by Sharon. Here are some of the selected thoughts Shared on insights about photography to the audience at Pawa Salon.(introduction courtesy of houseoffotography)

  • ·         First was defining photographers Teddy shared that they are students “I’m a photographer but a student first I’m always learning”. It’s key for photographers to decide of where to position themselves so that clients are looking for someone in the field they have you in their mind and giving examples of people renowned in variant fields e.g. Weddings, sporting and photo journalism.  And a professional photographer remains a professional person.
  • ·         Visibility is Credibility in your works and arts should stand out and speak for it and hence self selling. Leverage on online publicity and always remain visible blog, Tweet and remain on facebook. Host a website it identifies the creative in a field.
  • ·         Network- Join a referral networking group and connect with other business people. Networking improves your business personality and expands your networks each day.
  • ·         Cheap is expensive don’t dilute your brand you rather work for free than doing cheap photography. Practice practice practice just like other profession require practice same to photography do requires practice and know what your camera does? Don't buy a new camera or lens without mastering and handling the current camera.
  • ·         3 P's- Photography Photoshop and Practice in their regard Photoshop is not photography and practice is not Photoshop. Hence photography is practice. Photoshop is a helper and should help you and not your brand.
  • ·         Mistakes are just but stepping summer and should not be obstacles learn from them and don't pass the buck.
  • ·         Family and work theses need to draw a line between them Sharon clearly plays out the two roles of being a finance boss and being a wife. They both don't work on Sundays strictly. Teddy shared that he loves his family more than his profession and have to outsource other services.
  • ·         Don't tell a client go to my facebook page to see my portfolios.
